Mehedi Hasan Reveals His Cricketing Hero And You’ll Be Shocked To Know Who It Is!

The Bangladesh off spinner Mehedi Hasan made headlines as he burst into the cricketing scene after taking a 5 wicket haul on his Test debut in the opening game of the series against England.

The teenager ‘Miraz’ only played 12 first class games before impressing the whole cricketing world with his outstanding bowling against one of the top test sides.

After Alastair Cook won the toss and put the Bangladesh Tiger’s to bat first, skipper Mushfiqur Rahim gave the visitors the first taste of spin as he started with Miraz from one end. He bowled 33 overs on the first day, which is also a record for the most overs bowled by a debutant from Bangladesh.

However, when he was asked who his inspiration was, he shocked everyone by his statement. As per ‘The Daily Observer’, Hasan said that he learned off-spin after watching former Indian off-spinner Ramesh Powar bowling on TV.

He was quoted saying:

“Though I have never met him, Ramesh Powar is my hero. I used to watch him play IPL matches on TV and took inspiration from him”.

“It was because the captain (Mushfiqur Rahim) had faith in me. I was also encouraged by the senior members of the team and special thanks to Tamim Iqbal and Shakib Al Hasan for their kind words”

“No, unfortunately my parents have not watched my heroic debut. My father was a truck driver till last year and he with my mother stays at home Khulna, which is over 350 km from here (Chittagong)”, he further added.

Powar had not been following the Test series and after hearing what Miraz said about him, the Indian player had to check out Hasan’s bowling from the highlights.
